Salesforce, the world’s #1 CRM provider, has extended its work-from-home option for all its employees until at least August 2021. Earlier, all 49,000 employees were allowed to work remotely by the end of 2020.
While Salesforce is slowly reopening its 160 offices throughout the world based on local government guidelines and medical experts’ advice, extending the work from home option till next summer to give employees the ability to plan ahead.
Salesforce has joined the growing number of tech companies like Facebook, Google, and Uber, who extended working from home until next year. Companies such as Twitter, Facebook, Slack, and Atlassian, have allowed their employees to continue work remotely even after offices reopen.
Moreover, Salesforce will offer an additional $250 to purchase office supplies to work from home, following a $250 allocation earlier this year. Parents will also receive an additional six weeks of paid leave. The CRM giant also said that parents and guardians can work from home even past august 2021 if they are in areas where schools are closed, and students are doing remote learning.
Brent Hyder, president and chief people officer of Salesforce, wrote in a blog post:
“The safety of our employees and communities remains paramount. And while we continue to work on plans to reopen our offices safely, the timing of when we bring employees back will be unique to each office — and we will continue to make those decisions in a way that’s consistent with local government guidelines and the advice of our medical experts and local leadership team.”
Previously, Salesforce described the process of reopening its offices as a light dimmer, which means reopening each location will take place in different phases. That process includes weighing factors such as government guidance and COVID-19 case levels, redesigning offices to ensure social distancing, and communicating with employees to determine which offices to open next.
As the office reopens, Salesforce plans to have temperature checks on each floor, mandatory masks, and workers separated by 6 feet.
To help customers take the same steps, Salesforce has launched a set of products to help businesses reopen, including employee health monitoring tools and shift management software.
